WINFIELD — Bradley James Vasquez, 39, of Winfield, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 24, 2018 with his cousins, Jada and Shane Starlin and family at his side in Wichita. Born May 3, 1978 in Hoisington, Kansas, he was the son of Joe Vasquez and Connie Blake. He was raised by his grandparents, Don and Lee Bender following the death of his mother during high school. He would spend his summers with his father and step-mother, Judy. He worked at Pizza Hut and later at Quality Inn/Super 8 for 16 years.
Brad enjoyed going to concerts, hanging out with his friends, gaming, playing disc golf and reading books and comics. He was an avid Colorado Avalanche Hockey fan. Brad touched the hearts of everyone he came in contact with.
His family includes: his brothers, Dion Vasquez and wife, Candi of Hoisington, Leland Vasquez of Hoisington, Steve Vasquez and wife, Bonnie of Claflin, Craig Beaumont and wife, Ashley of Wichita; his step-brother, Charles Beesley Jr. of Missouri; his sister, Tina Bortz and companion, Larry of Hoisington; his step-mother, Judy Vasquez of Hoisington; his grandfather, Don Bender of Winfield; and his numerous cousins, 10 nephews, seven nieces, eight great nephews and eight great nieces. Brad was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Sherry; grandmother, Lee Bender; and nephew, Justin Larson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in Brad’s name for the American Cancer Society.
