STERLING, Colo. — Brandon T. “Boo” Cartwright, 42, of Sterling, Colo. passed away Mon., Aug. 8, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. Born Feb. 22, 1974, in Hoisington, he was the son of Booker T. and Marcia L. Guliford Cartwright. In 1992, he graduated from Hoisington High School. Brandon was drafted by the Oakland A’s out of high school but decided to attend Barton County Community College instead to pursue his Associates Degree. He continued to play baseball in college. He worked in the telecommunications industry, working on cell phone towers for the past ten years. On July 24, 1999, he married Mistee K. Simms in Hoisington. He loved playing music especially the drums and trombone. Brandon also enjoyed playing softball, pool and foosball.
Brandon is survived by his wife Mistee Cartwright and daughters Jossie Cartwright and Trennary Cartwright all of Sterling, Colo.; five sisters Dradeana K. Cartwright of Great Bend, Shalaya Watson of Houston, Texas, Salima Watson of Wilmington, Del., Shalonda Watson of Houston, Texas and Rashawnda Row and husband John of Dallas, Texas; three brothers Braylan T. Cartwright and wife Keri of Russell, Barrian T. Cartwright of Oklahoma and Derreck Tucker-Khoury of Marietta, Ga.; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Dorothy Corsberg Theater at NJC in Sterling, Colo. with the Rev. Brian Kroeger and the Rev. Derek DeToni-Hill officiating. A live feed viewing of the service will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Hoisington High School Auditorium. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 4 .pm. on Monday at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Brandon Cartwright Memorial Fund.
