Bryan Joseph Mermis, 47, passed away Dec. 13, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. He was born July 4, 1974, in Great Bend, to Clarence Joseph Mermis Jr. and Patricia Willene (Swagerty) Mermis. He married Ellen Oppenheimer on Nov. 23, 2003, in Great Bend.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Bryan was a loving father and dedicated farmer, who enjoyed the friendships that he had built through his career. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors and hunting, snow skiing and the thrills of a good theme park. He especially looked forward to his slow times when he could plan family vacations.
Survivors include: his wife Ellen and their children, Katelyn, Kale, Carter and Claire Mermis; his parents, C.J. and Pat Mermis of Great Bend; and a sister, Dawn Mermis of Salina.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Vigil service and Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials have been designated to Holy Family School Endowment Fund or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
