Bryce F. Hayes 1935-2012


ATTICA — Bryce F. Hayes, 76, died April 9, 2012 at his lake home in Sunrise Beach, Mo., surrounded by his family.
He was born June 4, 1935 in Lickting, Mo., the son of Floyd and Tressa (Bates) Hayes. His mother died when Bryce was an infant and his father remarried Ann Watson when Bryce was 10 years old.
Bryce was married Sept. 26, 1956 to Barbara O’Grady in the Catholic Church at Great Bend. Bryce married Carol Wagner March 28, 1983.   
Bryce worked in the family business, Hayes Well Service, and moved it to Attica in 1957. He was a member of the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association; the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Harper of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community, the Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Association of Oil Well Servicing. He was the owner of Hayes Oil and Gas LLC.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Hayes; three daughters, Sharon Niemann and husband Greg, Goddard; Sandra Arnett and husband Terry, Pratt; and Susan LaPlant and husband Jim, Wichita; a son, Shayne Hayes and wife Lorie, Attica; two step-children, Tamara Davis and husband Lloyd, Dodge City; and Bryant Phye and wife Vanessa, Overland Park; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special niece and nephew, Kathleen Shupp, Reno. Nev.; and Michael Graves, Eagle Point, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Hayes, and two sisters: Doris Smith and Selma Martin.
Recitation of Rosary will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Harper, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Harper, of the St. Joan of Arc Parish Community with Father Michael Peltzer officiating. Interment will be at the Attica Cemetery.
Fellowship with family and friends will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Memorial Building in Attica.
Memorials are suggested to Newman University, Wichita or Cancer Center of Kansas, Kingman Branch, in care of the Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Harper.
