LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Calvin Willis Perry died Dec. 22, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born Feb. 13, 1939, the son of Calvin Willis Perry and Elizabeth Ann Perry.
Calvin joined the Army Reserves and then the Army, served in Vietnam and retired with an honorable discharge from the military and moved to Las Vegas,Nevada. He retired from the Army as a Command Sergeant Major (CSM), the highest enlisted rank in the service. He received numerous awards while in the Army.
After retiring from the Army, Calvin worked at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas and retired from there.
He is survived by nieces and nephews Dennis Thompson, Akilah Bolden-Monifa (nee’ Elizabeth Ann Thompson), Colleen Gray, Shawna Bell, Ryan Reece, Shionta Gray, Will Gray, and LaShawna Trevino, and his godson, David Kronman, who was his primary caretaker the last seven years of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Lee Reece and Shirley Ann Thompson.
It was his desire not to have a funeral but to be buried at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.
