ELLINWOOD — Carol June Clawson, 79, passed away in Ellinwood on May 3, 2017. She was born in Great Bend on Aug. 28th, 1937, to Harold E. and Ruth R. (Koch) DeWerff. Mrs. Clawson was a lifetime Ellinwood resident where she worked as secretary for Langfeld Dirt Service until she retired. She married Larry Clawson on March 25, 1956, at the First Baptist Church. He died Oct. 4, 2009.
Carol was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, UCC Altar Guild and Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed golfing as well as being known as an excellent cook and rarely missed a chance to support her children and grandchildren at sporting events and concerts.
Survivors include sons, Kirk (Barbara) Clawson, Kyle (Lori) Clawson, Kraig (Sloan) Clawson and daughter, Jodi (Jon) Prescott, all from Ellinwood; brothers, Dallas (Cinda) DeWerff, Kingston, Okla., Dale (Karen) DeWerff, Augusta; sister-in-law, Mary Katheryn (Pug) and (Jack) Barrow, Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Floyd DeWerff, Dennis DeWerff, Lloyd DeWerff; son-in-law, Steve Whelan; and grandson, Caleb Clawson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood with the Rev. Dale DeWerff officiating. Burial will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday with family present from 6-7 at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to AWANA’s of First Baptist Church, Ellinwood EMS, or the Immanuel United Church of Christ in care of Minnis Chapel. Condolences may be left at www.minnischapel.org.
