SILVER LAKE — Carolyn Sue Leigan, 79, of Silver Lake, Kan., died Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1944 in Hardtner, Kan., the daughter of James Melvin Jones and Opal Pearl (Tredway) Jones.

Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of Medicine Lodge High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kan. She also held a cosmetology license. She was a Systems Operator for various electrical companies in Great Bend, Kan.

Surviving are one son, Dean (Tanya) Pierce of La Crosse, Kan.; one daughter, Melissa (Steve) Holder of Topeka, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Tessa, Cole, and Blake Pierce, Tracy, Steven and Lance Holder, and Stephanie Powell; ten great-grandchildren, Kaden, Skyler, Bella, Steven, Brody, Eli, and Violet Holder, Josh and Lindsay Hupp, and Alex Powell; two sisters, Joann (Chuck) Motter of Lenexa, Kan. and Joyce Bell of Isabel, Kan.; several nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Jennifer Holder; and four siblings, Marvin Jones, Virginia Jones, Wallace Jones and infant Melvin Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, Kan. with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, Kan.
