Charles Thomas “Tom” Dunnaway, age 62 years, of Great Bend, Kan., died at his home in Great Bend early on Sunday morning, Sept. 6, 2020. Tom was born on May 14, 1958 at Hoisington, Kan. to Henry Eugene and Ruth Ann (Marker) Dunnaway. He lived in the Great Bend area nearly all his life, except for a five year period when he lived in Laughlin, Nev. Tom worked on drilling rigs and pumping units in the oilfield for many years until he was disabled five years ago. He enjoyed snake hunting, arrowhead hunting, hanging out with his friends, and was a big Pink Floyd fan. Tom was also known to be an avid storyteller.
Survivors include two sons Matthew Dunnaway of Osage Beach, Mo. and Mark Dunnaway-Menzer of Camp Bagnell, Mo.; his brother Joe (and wife Ruth) Dunnaway of Great Bend, Kan.; two sisters: Brenda (and husband Ronald) Hayes of Great Bend, Kan. and Lynn (and husband Sean) White of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; two step-brothers Rick (and wife Iris) Ogden of Great Bend, Kan. and Richard Ogden of Ellinwood, Kan.; one step-sister LaDonna Vu of Galveston, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been chosen. Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020 at Great Bend Cemetery of Great Bend, Kan. Memorial Donations may be directed to the Cheyenne Bottoms Wetland Education Center north of Great Bend.
