Clarence F. Clare Zecha 1931 - 2016

ODIN — Clarence F. “Clare” Zecha, 84, died April 11, 2016, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Nov. 18, 1931, on the farm near Odin, he was the son of William B. and Frances (Frenzl) Zecha. On Oct. 2, 1957, he married Eleanor A. Zorn, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin. A lifetime resident of the Odin area, he was a farmer and a stockman. He also worked for the Independent Township and served as a board member for many years.
Mr. Zecha served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed in Korea and Japan. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council No. 2630.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Zecha; a daughter, Sharon and her husband Mike; and three sisters, Matilda Penka of Wilson, Lucille Schneweis of Wichita, and Doris Weiser of Hoisington. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Raymond, Robert, Victor, Herman and Francis Zecha; and four sisters, Eleanor Johanning, Helen Straub, Kathleen Zecha and Agnes Penka.
Vigil with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Don Bedore and Father Pascal Klein. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Holy Family Catholic Church, Claflin Ambulance Fund, or Clara Barton Hospital Foundation. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
