Cleo Eugene Watkins, 83, died on Dec. 6, 2014 at Via Christi Hospital-St. Francis in Wichita. Born on Jan. 21, 1931, in Stockton, he was the son of Roy Bryon and Grace Mae (Hulst) Watkins. A resident of Great Bend for most of his life he worked as a Lineman for Midwest Energy until he retired. Everyone that knew him, knew how much he has always loved his motorcycles, both working on them and riding. He was also an avid bowler most of his adult life, a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by many.
Survivors include, five daughters, Jaqueline Sue Dean, Alice Mae Penningtion McNair, Kathleen Faye Watkins, Jo Anne Jackson, and Teresa Jean Mortimer; six grandchildren, Michelle Pennington Sanko, Jason Pennington, Travis Watkins, David Mortimer, Sybil Mortimer Drbal and Max Mortimer; 11 great-grandchildren, Carson, Kaylyn, and Cadein Mortimer, Cooper, Corinne and Callie Mae Drbal and Nichole, Noelle and Natalie Sanko, Joliette and Kadence Pennington; and two brothers, Jesse Myron and Lloyd Earl. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Chester Roy and baby Leo Wayne; and his sister Thelda Mae.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Jan. 3, at The Walnut Bowl, 3101 Washington St in Great Bend.
