CLINTON, Mo.  Cory Baker, 33 of Clinton, Mo. passed away Aug. 10, 2023 at Appleton City Manor in Appleton City, Mo.  Cremation, with family memorial services to be held at a later date. Cory Alexander Baker was born Feb. 19, 1990 in Hays, Kan. to Scott “Toby” Baker and Teresa Ater. He graduated from Russell High School in 2008. Cory spent much of his school years moving from Kansas to Colorado, then to Germany, then Texas, and finally back to Kansas. Wherever the Army sent his dad.  

Cory spent 30 of his 33 years of life fighting Type 1 Diabetes. Sadly, he lost that battle.

He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family members. Cory will be remembered for his big heart, his love of life, and his quirky sense of humor.

Cory was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dale and Barbara Ater, his paternal grandfather, Jack Baker, and by his step-grandparents, Ed Philbern and Anita Fay Taylor. He is survived by his father Toby Baker; mother Teresa Ater; step-father Larry Philbern; sister Barbara Baker and her family; step-sister Rachel Laymon; and step-brothers, Jacob Philbern, and Sam Philbern, along with their families.
