Cynthia Ann “Ciddy” Vick

Cynthia Ann “Ciddy” Vick, 95, passed away Feb. 2, 2023, at University of Kansas Medical Center – Great Bend Campus, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on June 4, 1927, in rural Barton County to Bruno and Cynthia (Hoffman) Peschka. On Dec. 2, 1966, she married Earl Vick in Oklahoma City, Okla. He passed on Feb. 15, 1968.

A long time resident of Great Bend, Ciddy worked as the head cook for Central Kansas Medical Center for 17 years, then during retirement, cooked for the Dominican Sisters of Peace Motherhouse. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary. An avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan, Ciddy never got a traffic ticket and was very proud to still have “her own teeth.”

Survivors include a son, Greg (Gillian) Vick of Farmington, N.M.; two daughters, Kathy (Tom) Ellis of Midwest City, Okla., and Donna (Lenny) Gales of Great Bend, Kan.; 16 grandchildren, Derek Tournear, Treva Dayton, Kim Ingham, Tamara Gales, Karen Brown, Kristy MacNair, Melissa Barnes, Brian Ellis, Kinzi Slade, Kortney Vick, Kodi Vick, Nicholas Armenta, Kierra Rogers, Danica Danner, Robbie Vick, and Sabrena Keathly; 21 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Charlie Brown; seven brothers, Johnny, John, Mike, Butch, Bruno Jr., Frank, and Sonny; and two sisters, Sr. Crescentia and Val.

Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, with Altar Society Rosary at 4 p.m., family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and vigil service at 7 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, Kan. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Golden Belt Humane Society, in Care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, Kan., 67530.
