Dan J. Mason

Dan J. Mason, 64, passed away at Hutchinson Regional Hospital on Dec. 27, 2020 surrounded by his wife and daughter. Born in Ellsworth, KS on July 30, 1956 he was the son of Johnnie & Dolores (Schultz) Mason. Dan graduated from Great Bend HS in 1974 and spent 46 years working local utilities to contracting work and was currently an operations manager at JF Electric. 

He married Donna Feist on March 5th, 2005 in Ellinwood, KS where they enjoyed 16 years together. Formerly of Great Bend, Dan was involved with the Argonne Rebels Drum & Bugle Corps in his youth, was a member of the Golden Belt Lightning Bolts & Brocaw Blazers (daughter Carley ran), and current member of St. Joseph Church and the IBEW #304. Dan donated his time to youth league & Eagle Football where he was able to watch his son Jonathan play. In addition he was a die hard Chiefs fan and loved spending time with family grilling, hosting pool parties and 4th of July, & playing cards.  

Survivors include wife, Donna Mason, Ellinwood KS; children, Carley (Greg) Wells, Great Bend, KS and Jonathon Mason, Ellinwood, KS; step-children, Jessica (Nolan) Hoffman, Hays, KS, Erica (Brent) Manning, Stafford, KS, Becky Elsen, Great Bend, KS; foster children, Dani (Darrel) Wilson, Sapulpa, OK and Nicci (John) Medina, Sand Springs, OK; grandchildren, Macey and Mason Wells, Leo and Eli Hoffman, Riley Wyatt and Albion Manning, and 6 foster grandchildren; siblings, Steve Mason, Wichita, KS and Bonnie (Dan) Jeffers, Paola, KS. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and foster grandson, JT Medina.

Funeral mass will be 10:00 AM, Thurs, Dec.,31 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood, KS with Father Klein officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed., Dec., 30th at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 11am-7 PM with family present from 5-7pm and Vigil service starting at 7pm. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School in care of Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood, KS 67526.
