Dana Ruth Foss, aged 83, peacefully passed away on Oct. 6, 2023, at Wilson Care Center in Wilson, Kan. She was born on Nov. 6, 1939, in Starkville, Miss., to LeRoy and Hazel (Ragan) Orr. Dana’s life journey included marriage to Vernon L. Kaiser and, subsequently, on Oct. 3, 1981, she wed David Foss in Great Bend, Kan.
Dana’s professional journey led her to the local credit bureau before serving as an administrative assistant for the Barton Community College Athletic Department, where she dedicated herself until her retirement in 2010. During her tenure, Dana actively engaged in various facets of the department and even acted as the devoted sponsor for the BCCC Cougarettes for over 30 years. Beyond her professional commitments, Dana was a cherished member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Altar Society, BCC Booster Club, Touched by Cancer Support Group, and her achievements supporting all BCC athletic events and athletes, earned her a place in the BCC Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Among her hobbies, Dana enjoyed playing bridge, cherished her time with her Taco Club and class of ’57, and loved spending time with her family.
Dana is survived by her beloved husband, David Foss, who shared their home; two children, Doug (Michelle) Kaiser and Lori (Alan) Crowther, all residing in Great Bend. Her legacy lives on through seven cherished grandchildren: Chris (Sarah) Kaiser, Kyle Kaiser, Brice Kaiser, Cal Kaiser, Allyson Kaiser, Cody (Kristin) Crowther, and Alexis Crowther. Dana was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Coleman Crowther, Conrad Crowther, Anastyn Kaiser, and Wesley Kaiser. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Dana’s friends and family will take place from moon to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home. An Altar Society Rosary will be offered at 4 p.m., followed by a Vigil at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Dana will be laid to rest at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend. The family kindly requests that guests wear attire representing Barton Community College in memory of Dana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been designated to Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Heartland Cancer Center, or Barton Booster Club, all to be sent in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
