OLMITZ — Darrell Wayne Yott, 62, died Aug. 19, 2020, at his home in rural Olmitz, Kan. He was born July 8, 1958, in Louisville, Kent., the son of Emmitt A. “Sonny” and Inola S. (Johnston) Yott. Darrell graduated from Hoisington High School in 1976 and then later received his associate degree from Barton County Community College. He served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 from 1976 to 1979.
A longtime Barton County resident, he was an oil field driller with Southwind Drilling. He also owned his own flooring business, Darrell’s Custom Floors. Darrell was good man with a zest for life. He loved his many friends and family. He also loved a good game of horseshoes and sponsored the DD Horseshoe Tournament. He was an avid hunter and sportsman, and loved playing pool, ping pong, darts, and bowling.
On June 8, 1976, he married Rebecca Cannon, and they later divorced. He then married Laura Hendon on Oct. 4, 2017, in Great Bend, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include son, David Yott of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and daughters, Theresa Yott and spouse Thomas Wise of Hoisington, and Dietre Stevenson of Olmitz; four grandchildren, Tyler Duerksen, Dylan W. Yott, Dayne W. Yott, and Deryk W. Yott.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Ron Bailey presiding. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, cremation has taken place.
