DRUMWRIGHT, Okla. — David L. Hudson, 66, died on August 11, 2016, at his residence. Born on May 2, 1950, in Strong City, he was the son of the late Charles Otto Hudson and Evelyn Mabell (Green) Hudson. He was raised and educated in Pineville, La. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1971 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1979 and moved to Oklahoma City, Okla. where he worked for the Coca Cola company for several years. He later moved to Kansas and worked 15 years at Mary Herbert Elementary School in Emporia until retirement in 2000. On July 3, 1999, he married Dorothy (Williamson) Marshall in Emporia. They have made Drumright, Okla. their home since 2009. David enjoyed fishing, any outdoor activity, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hudson of Drumright, Okla.; a son, David Hudson Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a step-daughter, Sabrina Kearns and husband Tim of Kansas; a step-son, Bill Marshall Jr. of Kansas; three grandchildren, Raven Kearns, Alexis Marshall, and Blayz Marshall; three brothers, Harold Hudson and wife Linda of Louisiana, Dale Kitlen of Kansas, and Daniel Hudson and wife Ginny of Kansas; two sisters, Ruth Ann and husband Craig of California and Ila Griffin and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ottis of Hudson.
Graveside services were held on Monday, Aug. 15, in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery near Cushing, Okla. officiated by the Rev. Robert Whisnant of the Drumright Cornerstone Light House Church Military. Funeral honors were provided by the United States Marine Corps.
