LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — David Wayne Bowman, 55, died June 24, 2015, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, Missouri. He was born Oct. 13, 1959, at Larned, to Howard and Carole (Unruh) Bowman. He was a 1977 graduate of Macksville High School and graduated from Barton County Community College, Emporia State University and the University of Kansas. A longtime Kansas City area resident, he was a custodian for the Lee’s Summit School District.
Mr. Bowman was a member of New Jerusalem Church, Pawnee Rock, and was a former member of the Argonne Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps, Great Bend. He was an avid KU fan.
Survivors include his parents, of Pawnee Rock; one sister, Gay Beth Bingham and her husband Carl of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; one brother, Rob Bowman and his wife Kelly of Great Bend; nieces and nephew, Brittany Bowman of Emporia, Kristan Nelson and husband Tyler of Plainville, Jace Bowman of Great Bend, Kelsey Dowell and her husband Ryan of Tulsa, Okla., Courtney Bingham of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Lindsey Bingham of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and great-niece and great-nephew, Khloe Bowman and Tabor Nelson.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Joshua Leu, officiant. Interment will be Pawnee Rock Cemetery in Pawnee Rock. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations to Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation or American Cancer Society may be sent in care the funeral home.
