Dewey Daniel Ball, 86, died Oct. 11 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1926, at Japton, Ark. the son of Jacob Asbury and Callie (Kirk) Ball. He married Kathrine Louise Haworth Dec. 15, 1946, at Winfield.  She died Nov. 25, 2012. A Great Bend resident for 58 years, coming from Grenola, Kan., and Japton, Ark., he worked for R. J. Allison, Energy Fuels, NRG and Signal Fuels as an L.P. Gas manager.
Mr. Ball was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Radio League, Ham Radio Operator, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two sons, Dewey D. Ball Jr. and his wife Linda of Pawnee Rock, and Dale Eugene Ball and his wife Chris of Grove, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, Justin Turnbow, Jason Turnbow, Jennifer Flock, Kimberly Rasmussen, Christina Ball, Tiffnie Rountree, Jessica Ball, Austin Ball, Katie Benitez, Clayton Ball, Jamie Alley, Rex Beckworth, Shannon Beckworth and Diane Beckworth; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl Louise and Russell E. Turnbow.
Inurnment will be at Drakes Creek Cemetery, Madison County, Ark., at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
