Dolores E. Sillin 1931-2020

Dolores E. Sillin, 89, of Overbrook, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020. She was born April 25, 1931, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Louis Jacob and Viola A. (Wolf) Geil. She was a 1948 graduate of Great Bend High School. 

Dolores was employed by Great Bend Lumber Yard and later for Sears Department Store in Topeka for many years until retiring. She was a member of Overbrook United Methodist Church in Overbrook. She volunteered for the Help House in Lyndon, Kansas and the American Cancer Society.

Dolores married Percy Sillin on August 19, 1952 in Great Bend, Kansas. He preceded her in death November 9, 2003. Survivors include two sons, Brad D. Sillin and Todd (J.J.) Sillin both of Topeka; three grandchildren, Chance, Mariah and Jessica; and five great-grandchildren, Maverick, Charley, Mason, Waylon and Kase and another grandson, Lawrence expected.

Dolores enjoyed spending time with family, especially grandchildren, traveling, cooking, gardening, crafts and Christmas season and music. She was also a K.C. Royals and Kansas State University fan.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Overbrook United Methodist Church, 1005 Maple St, Overbrook, KS 66524. Please note those attending are encouraged to bring a chair and umbrella as the service will take place outside the church. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Great Bend, Kansas.
