RUSSELL — Donald (Don) Eugene Fosdick, 58, of Russell, died Feb. 9 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born Nov. 24, 1953, in Ellinwood, the son of Donald T. and Geraldine K. (Cope) Fosdick. He grew up in the Great Bend area and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1972. He was a welder and was the owner and operator of Western Welders in Oklahoma for over 15 years. He met and fell in love with his fiancée Patricia K. Wolf and they made their home in Russell. He was a true cowboy and loved horses and was a member of the Cutting Horse Association. He loved playing the guitar and enjoyed listening to musicians such as George Strait, Stevie Ray Vaughn and B.B. King. He also enjoyed working on cars and watching NASCAR. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two daughters.
He is survived by his mother Geraldine K. Fosdick of Great Bend; daughters Dee Dee Wyckoff and husband Josh of Jacksonville, Florida and Kassy Fosdick of Weatherford, Oklahoma; fiancée Patricia K. Wolf of Russell and her two children Ray Wolf of Great Bend and Beverly Wolf of Hays; sisters Jeannine Byers-Long and husband G.J. of Russell and Annette Schremmer of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his father Donald.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor John Thompson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be given to the Angel Horse Rescue Inc., P.O. Box 1058, Inola, OK 74036 or sent in care of the mortuary.
