ELLINWOOD — Donald Eugene Dannebohm, 85, passed away at Leisure Homestead in St. John on May 17, 2017. He was born in Great Bend on November 30, 1931 to Stan and Irene (Parker) Dannebohm. Mr. Dannebohm was a lifetime Ellinwood resident where he was a cowboy first and foremost and also worked as a heavy equipment operator at a handful of different places in the area. Donald married Wilma Zimmerman and later Wanda Woolrey who preceded him in death in 2014. He also served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include sons, Roger (Jean) Dannebohm, Ellinwood, Steve (Patty) Dannebohm, Sterling; daughter, Cindy Dannebohm, Pratt; brother, Larry (Jamee) Dannebohm; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Meyer, Garden City; and step-daugher, Brenda Arnold, Wichita. Other survivors include six grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wanda Dannebohm, and brothers, Robert & Gary Dannebohm.
Funeral service will be Saturday May 20 10:30 a.m at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood with the Honorable J. Basil Dannebohm and Rev. George Redington officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be Friday May 19 from 1-6 PM also at Minnis Chapel.
