Donald Lynn “Butch” Hoberecht

Donald Lynn “Butch” Hoberecht, 83, passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2023, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kan. He was born Aug. 18, 1939, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of William and Gladys Hoberecht. He graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He married Judy Fuhr(Garmeson) and together they had five children. They later divorced. He then moved to Wichita where he married his lifelong partner Virginia Medina on April 11, 1986.

He worked on the oilfield, with his last job being with the State of Kansas

Aside from being survived by his wife Virginia, he leaves behind his children Renalda Watkins, Boston, Mass., Lori Stafford, Great Bend, Kan., Denise Mustoe, Kansas City, Mo., Troy(Tammy)Hoberecht, Wichita, Kan. He also leaves behind Virginia’s children, Angela Schmitz, Wichita, Kan. Delta Dawn (Larry)Lee, Wichita, Kan., 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, his “little yapper dog” Lola, brother Russell(Speedy and Wanda)Hoberecht, Great Bend, Kan., Leland Hoberecht, Newton, Kan., Thelma(Sol)Buettgenbauch, Great Bend, Kan., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Gladys Hoberecht; Glenna Bone-sister; Rhonda Lynn Hoberecht-stillborn twin to Renalda.  

He was an active member of Pathway Church Westlink, Wichita, Kan. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Great Bend on Sunday, March 19th from noon to 3 at The Courtyard at the Best Western. Memorials can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market St. Wichita, KS  67202.
