GEORGETOWN, Colo. — Donna M. Peters, 82, died Nov. 22 at St. Anthony Hospital, Lakewood, Colo. She was born Sept. 24, 1929, at Janesville, Wis., to Paul and Ada Blanche (Carroll) Rogers.

On Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, John Peters lost the love of his life, his best friend, and the most beautiful girl in the world. Donna and John were married 64 years and were very dedicated to each other, always putting the other one first. When John met Donna, he knew instantly she was the girl for him. They were married three months later on Oct. 11, 1947, at Dodge City, joined hearts, and truly became one for the next 64 years of life.

Donna’s passion was taking care of her family and making sure they had a big meal on the table. She was a talented seamstress and created many beautiful quilts for her family. Donna and John raised six children and cared for 14 foster children over the years, and helped many others in need.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Peters, of the home; six children, Marla Dale and her husband David of Lexington, Ky., John Peters Jr. of Great Bend, Janet Schmidt and her husband Mike of Portland, Ore., Lynn Cherry and her husband Greg of Arcadia, Okla., Susan Davis and her husband Mark of Wichita, and Gloria Turner of Texas; two brothers, Laverne Rogers of Perry, Okla., and Don Rogers of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Carroll Kreutzer of Great Bend; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home.
