HOISINGTON — Doris V. Ramsey, age 94 years, of Hoisington, Kan., passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 4, 2022 at MedicaLodges of Great Bend. Doris was born on July 23, 1927 at Lincoln, Kan. to Ernest and Faye (Chambers) Lancaster. She was united in marriage to Richard K. “Dick” Ramsey on March 6, 1947 at Manhattan, Kan. and the couple lived in several communities in Kansas and Colorado, but lived most of their lives in Hoisington, Kan.
Doris was a member of Faith Community Church at Great Bend. She loved to read, and was known to be an excellent letter and note writer, and also enjoyed painting with acrylics.
Doris was the life of any gathering and was known by her four year old great-granddaughter, Ella, as “my funniest grandma.” Her tender heart of mercy loved everybody but she had a huge soft spot for children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her two main objectives in raising her family were that her children would know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and have a college education. Both goals were met through a lot of prayer, sacrifice and hard work on her and her husband Dick’s part.
Survivors include two daughters Meredith (and Ben) Rice of Great Bend, Kan. and Bethanie Ramsey of Manhattan, Kan.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard Keith Ramsey on July 6, 2002; and one brother and three sisters.
According to her wishes, cremation has been chosen and there will be no services or visitation. Inurnment will take place in Lincoln, Kan. at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Faith Community Church in Great Bend, Kan. Online condolences may be left for the family and a full obituary notice may be viewed at http://www.chartergreatbend.com.
