OLMITZ — Dorothy F. Schneider, 89, died March 31 at the Hays Medical Center. Born May 21, 1922, in Gove County, she was the daughter of Alexander and Walburga (Ziegler) Schwarzenberger. She graduated from Quinter High School in 1940. On May 11, 1954, she married Raymond A. Schneider in Collier. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2007. She moved to Hoisington in 2009 from her farm south of Olmitz. She worked as a teller in various banks over the years retiring from Farmers Bank and Trust in Albert.
Mrs. Schneider was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and altar society in Olmitz and enjoyed mowing the lawn, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include three brothers, Alex Schwarzenberger of Hoxie, Frank Schwarzenberger of Quinter, and Albert Schwarzenberger of Wakeeny; one sister, Agnes Berens and husband Elmer of Hoxie; three sisters-in-law, Rose Dietz of Redwing, Mary B. Schneider of Great Bend, and Elizabeth Schneider of Hoisington; one granddaughter, Erica Bolticoff and husband Scott of Plano, Texas; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Michael A. Schneider; and four sisters, Margaret, Philomena, Mary and Cecilia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz with Father Ultan Murphy as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Olmitz. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Wake service followed by an altar society rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Olmitz. Memorials may be given to St. Ann’s Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
