HOISINGTON — Dorthy Lynn Doonan, 74, died Nov. 26, 2023, in Salina, Kan. She was born July 2, 1949, in Elkins, West Virginia, the daughter of Arnold and Alice (Chewning) Hart. Dorothy graduated from Elkins High School in 1967.
On Sept. 6, 1969, she married Glen A. Doonan in Patuxent River, Maryland. He preceded her in death earlier this year on June 18th.
A Hoisington resident since 1975, coming from Pratt and Great Bend, Dorthy was the Barton County Clerk of the District Court for 23 years retiring in 2012. She enjoyed crocheting and bird watching and was known for the many wedding cakes she made. Family was her most central part of her life and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her three children, Jeff Doonan and fiancé Loretta Smith of Hoisington, Lynn Andres and husband Merlyn of Solomon, and Wade Doonan and wife Sandy of Salina; six siblings, John Hart and wife Becky, Joe Hart and wife Kelly, David Hart and wife Kay, Debbie Gainer and husband Harold, Edward Hart, all of Elkins, West Virginia and Steve Hart and wife Carol of Charles Town, West Virginia; six grandchildren, Jacob Andres and wife Jennifer, Shauna Andres and fiancé Krys Lane, Alexis Miller and husband Conlan, Austin Doonan, Kacee Doonan, and Bryce Doonan; and a great grandson, Benjamin Andres. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Jeffery Hart.
Family will greet friends prior to service beginning at 9 a.m., with Memorial service to begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 9th, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeremy Shook presiding. Inurnment services for both Dorthy and Glen will then follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Solomon, Kan.
