Dr. Satti Satyanarayana 1935-2015

WICHITA — Reddy, Dr. Satti Satyanarayana, 79, died Friday, March 6.  He was born March 14, 1935 on a rural farm in Agraharam in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. He had six other siblings.
While working on the family farm, he completed his elementary and high school education in the local rural school system. He was later accepted to medical school and completed his MBBS in Chengalpattu Medical College in Tamil Nadu, India. He subsequently finished a master’s degree in general surgery at Kurnool Medical College in Andhra Pradesh, India. Satyanarayana was than recruited for medical training in New York City where he finished residencies in general surgery and urology at the Bronx VA medical center and Mount Sinai Hospital. He completed his urology training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
Satyanarayana moved his family to western Kansas in 1977, and as an urologist, served the community of western Kansas until his retirement in 2005.  Over these 28 years of service, he lived in Dodge City and later in Great Bend. A quiet and caring man, Satyanarayana was a devoted physician. He enjoyed the simple pleasures, traveling and working in his vegetable garden. Although his work and dedication to his patients were driving forces in his life, his wife, children, and grandchildren were his joy. He was a generous man, not only with his time, but also with the numerous charities he supported over the years. He was truly an inspiration to his family and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Sita Rama Siva Bhagyavati of the home; two daughters, Uma Maheswari Konala and husband, Dr. Sivasankara Reddy Konala of St. Louis, Mo.; Kamala Kumari Karri and husband, Dr. Someswara Reddy Karri of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Dr. Venkata Suryakumar Reddy and wife, Ann Marie Reddy of Wichita; and Rama Lingeswara Reddy and wife, Tatiana A. Kuchinskaya-Reddy of Bayonne, N.J.; seven grandchildren: Sudhakar Reddy Konala, Saranya Reddy Konala, Saradasri Reddy Karri, Sashank Reddy Karri, Ian Satish Reddy, Ashok Zachary Reddy, and Nikita Vijay Reddy. Survivors also include two brothers, Satti Rama Krishna Reddy and wife, Suguna Reddy, and Venkata Subbi Reddy Satti and wife, Savatri Reddy Satti; two sisters, Karri Saraswati Reddy and husband, Karri Venkata Reddy, and Konala Varalakshmi Reddy and husband, Suryanaranyana Reddy; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Satti Surreddy and Satti Manikyam; older brothers, Satti Govinda Reddy and wife, Satti Satyavati, Satti Paddi Reddy and wife, Satti Parvati Reddy.  
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, March 8 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS 67206-1997.
