FORT MORGAN, Colo. — Dustin Michael Smith, 26, of Fort Morgan, died Aug. 19 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colo. He was born June 5, 1984, in Hoisington, to Richard and Angela (Funk) Smith. Dustin moved with his family to Fort Morgan in 1987. Dustin loved his family and friends and they were very important to him. In his spare time he raced at the I-76 Speedway and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He really enjoyed his job and took great pride in it.
Survivors include his wife, Nicole Freauff, and his unborn son Kamryn of Fort Morgan; his parents, Richard and Angela Smith of Fort Morgan; one brother, Zachary Smith, of Hillrose, Colo.; one sister, Jennifer Smith, of Snyder, Colo.; grandparents, Sue Wagner of Hoisington, Connie Meharg of Thornton, Colo., and Ronald Funk of Fenton, Mo.; great-grandfather, Walter Meharg of Great Bend, and nephews, Hunter Smith and Huston Smith. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bernard Wagner, and his great-grandmother, Ruth Meharg.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the I-76 Speedway west of Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the speedway. Memorial gifts may be made, in Dustin’s name, for his unborn son, in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
