E. Pearl Carson 1913 - 2013

E. Pearl Carson, 99, died April 7 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Dec. 22, 1913 in Wilcox, Ariz., she was the daughter of John Smith and Suzie Stahl. On Dec. 21, 1929 she married Russell Augusta Carson in Oklahoma City, Okla. He died in 1968. An Ellinwood resident for the past 10 years, and a Barton County resident since 1945, formerly of Oklahoma, she was retired from Fuller Brush. She also worked in food service and did baby-sitting. She was an avid gardener.
Survivors include two sons, George Lee Carson of Galatia and Russell Raymond Carson of Great Bend; a daughter, Nona Manning of Ellinwood, two brothers, Johnny Homer Carson of Great Bend and James Ketchum of Oklahoma, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Glen Carson and Billy Ray Carson; and two brothers, Raymond Smith and George Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Kimple Funeral Chapel in Ellinwood with the Rev. Kasey Crosby officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to the Great Bend Humane Society or the Great Bend Beautification Committee.
