PAWNEE ROCK — Earl Alvin Schmidt, 93, died July 18, 2016 at Kidron-Bethel Village, North Newton.
He was born Nov. 9, 1922 at Goessel, the son of Cornelius H. and Katharina (Voth) Schmidt.
He was married to Maxlyn E. Smith Oct. 12, 1946 at Bergthal Mennonite Church, Pawnee Rock. She died July 25, 2002. He was a rural Pawnee Rock farmer and teacher in Pawnee Rock and Larned schools.
Survivors include a son, Robert Schmidt and his wife Jean, Roswell, Ga.; a daughter, Ann Pasnick, Elmhurst, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Erwen Graber (Ruth, deceased), Moundridge, and Kenneth Kaufman (Joyce), Hesston; five grandchildren, Katherine “Katy” Pasnick (Matt Nelson), Susan Pasnick (Jake Brinton), Nicholas Pasnick (Daniela), Geoffrey Schmidt and Alexander Schmidt; two great-grandchildren: Anna Lee Brinton and Alexandria Jo Brinton.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Ray Pasnick and nine siblings.
Graveside Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Mennonite Memorial Cemetery north of Pawnee Rock. Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kidron-Bethel Village Chapel in North Newton. Burial will be in Mennonite Memorial Cemetery, Pawnee Rock.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Pawnee Rock Depot following the graveside service and from 3 to 5 p.m. following the memorial service. Memorials are requested to Mennonite Disaster Service or Mennonite Central Committee, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
