OTIS — Ed Batchman, 68, died Sept. 6 at Rossville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Rossville. He was born Aug. 24, 1945, at Ellinwood, the son of Ernie and Bonnie (Baxter) Batchman. He married Connie Petz Sept. 24, 1971, at Ellinwood. Mr. Batchman was a longtime resident of Otis, working for BOC Gases as an electronic technician.
He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy.  
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz.
Survivors include two daughters, Jill Swarts and husband Ty of Shawnee, and Staci Massieon and husband J.T. of Wamego; one brother, Bill Batchman of Bushton; and five grandchildren, Luke Swarts, Taya Swarts, Brady Swarts, Layla Massieon and John Massieon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Batchman.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Olmitz. Vigil service will be at 7 a.m. Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with Father Ultan Murphy officiating. Interment will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Olmitz, with Navy honors. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
