Edna Doris Tittel 1925 - 2020

RUSSELL — Edna Doris Tittel, 94, of Russell, Kan., died on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.

Edna was born on Dec. 23, 1925, in Milberger, Kan., the daughter of George K. and Mary K. (Kraft) Steinert. She grew up in the Milberger and Russell County, Kan., areas and attended school in Hoisington, Kan. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Raymond R. Tittel on Sept. 14, 1943, in Milberger. Edna worked as a cook at Duckwalls, Keilie’s restaurant, and Vintage Place.  

She was a longtime member of the Milberger United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Post #6240, McDonalds Coffee Club and Germans from Russia Club. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and cards, and watching the Price Is Right show. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  

Surviving family include her daughter Sandy Wendt and husband Teven of Wichita, Kan.; sister May Karst and husband Leonard of Great Bend, Kan.; daughter in-law Cindy Meitler of Great Bend, Kan.; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond on July 6, 1992; son Raymond L. Tittel; brother Rueben Steinert; sisters Rosa Boxberger and Virginia Boxberger.

A celebration of Edna’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020, at the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger, Kan. Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2020, with family greeting guests from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
