Edna E. Wegele 1923 - 2013

NESS CITY — Edna E. Wegele, 90, passed away Oct. 16 at Avita Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita. Born April 12, 1923, in Barton County, she was the daughter of John and Pauline Popp Maier. A near lifetime resident of Ness County, coming from Barton County in 1929, she was a bank officer. On May 7, 1944, she married Paul Wegele in Milberger. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2001.  
Mrs. Wegele was a member of the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and Lutheran Ladies Aide, in Bazine, and Lutheran Hour Ministries.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nadine Oppliger; and brothers, Julius and Marvin Maier.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bazine. Burial will follow at the Bazine cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or the Ness County Bank Building in care of the funeral home.
