Edward Butch Sanders 1945 - 2014

OAKFIELD, Tenn. — Edward “Butch” Lee Sanders, 68, died Feb. 12. He was born in Great Bend in 1945. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1965. In 1967, he married Maggie Van Horne in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a computer programmer at Northwestern Bell from 1970-1994.
Mr. Sanders served as an aircraft mechanic at Offutt Air Force Base from 1965-1968. He was an active member in the Council Bluffs Jaycees from 1976-1984, holding many leadership positions and honors including a senatorship in the Iowa JCI Senate.
Survivors include by his second wife, Bo; daughter, Jennifer; son, Scott; and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Sanders and Lena Bender Sanders; and brother and sister-in-law, Merrill Sr. and Sylvia Sanders.
A memorial potluck picnic will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Pawnee Rock State Park.
