GREAT BEND — Edwin Raymond Schneweis, 89, died Oct. 1, 2011 at LakePoint Nursing Home, Wichita.
He was born Sept. 19, 1922 at Odin, Kansas, the son of Emil and Josephine (Zorn) Schneweis.
He married Lucille Mary Zecha Nov. 5, 1946 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin. He was a farmer, stockman, electrician and carpenter.
Mr. Schneweis was a Great Bend resident since 1966 coming from Beaver, Kansas. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Beaver. The family wishes to acknowledge all those who have offered prayers and assistance, especially Marty and Kathy Chacon and Joanne Demel.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Mary Schneweis, of the home; two sons, Bill Schneweis and his wife Karen, Wichita;  Patrick Schneweis, Clearwater; two daughters: Annette Schneweis, Houston, Texas; Carol Schneweis, Wichita; seven grandchildren, Lisa Bryant, Adam Schneweis, Blake Schneweis, Kurt Schneweis, Kyle Schneweis, Seth Jackson and Nick Jackson; six great-grandchildren, Raylin Schneweis, Kiley Schneweis, Colton Bryant, Cassidy Bryant, Kate Schneweis and Cody Schneweis.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, John Schneweis, Wilhelm Schneweis, Father Emil Schneweis, Lawrence Schneweis, and Leonard Schneweis; seven sisters, Gabriella Habiger, Anna Schneweis, Sister Pauline Schneweis, Christina Demel, Gertrude Rziha, Leona Jenisch, and Mathilda Boor; and one grand-daughter, Amy Schneweis.
A vigil service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bryant Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the Bryant Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Lawrence Seminary High School Scholarship Fund, Mt. Calvary, Wis., in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
