Eldon Mayford Myers

HOISINGTON — Eldon Mayford Myers, 92, died Dec. 8, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born June 6, 1921 at Little River, he was the son of Oscar W. and Grace (Clark) Myers. A lifelong Hoisington resident, he graduated from Hoisington High School. On Sept. 15, 1946 he married Dorothy Tullis in Ellinwood. He later married Ida Neal on March 14, 1974 in Great Bend.
Mr. Myers served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed at the Aleutian Islands and was an airplane crew chief. After honorable discharge, he returned to Hoisington and was employed by NCRA for 38 years until his retirement. Eldon was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington, American Legion Post 180, Elks Club 1127, and the Cheyenne Bottoms Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, gardening, watching birds, hunting, and calling bingo.
Survivors include two sons, Martin Myers and Leslie Myers, both of Hoisington; one daughter, Dixie Myers of Hoisington; step-son, Gary McArthur and wife Pat of Great Bend; step-daughter, Karla Espinosa and husband Larry of Great Bend; one grandson, Heath Myers of Hoisington; one great-granddaughter, Shadow Myers of Ellinwood; and many step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives, Dorothy Myers, and Ida Myers; three brothers, Loren Myers, George Myers, Clark Myers; and one sister, Wilma Jennings.
Memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the Hoisington Cemetery with Pastor Don Fisher officiating. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
