ELLINWOOD — Eleanor Catherine (Hoffman) Hines, 92, died on Jan. 10, at Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Nov. 18, 1922, she was the daughter of Henry J. Hoffman and Teresa (Krier) Hoffman. In 1940, she graduated from Great Bend High School. On Jan. 21, 1941, she married Leo M. Hines in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1988. She was the Business Manager for the couple’s plumbing business until their retirement in 1985.
She was the last surviving member of the St. Rose of Lima Study Club of Ellinwood. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish and a member of the St. Joseph Legion of Mary. She was active and served as Social Director for the RCIA program at St. Joseph’s.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce (Joe) Schulte and Theresa Ann Ruyle, both of Ellinwood, and Paula Sue (Robert) Biles of Great Bend; a son Daniel Michael Hines (Kathy) of Ellinwood; a sister Patricia Dirks; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Fuhr and Lavina Carrier.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m on Thursday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father John Forkuoh presiding. Burial will follow at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m on Wednesday at Minnis Chapel with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be a 3 p.m Rosary and a 7 p.m. Vigil Service both at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the Area Health Care Foundation or the St. Joseph’s School Endowment Fund in care of the funeral home
