Eleanor M. Smith, 84, died Aug. 5, 2016, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Oct. 24, 1931, in Iola, she was the daughter of Carl F. and Lucile (Taylor) Martin. On June 3, 1951, she married Don Raymond Smith in Iola. He died on Feb. 24, 2005. She was a resident of Great Bend since 1967, coming from Salina.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend. She was a lecturer for Weight Watchers.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Schartz of Salina; three grandchildren, Andy Whitaker-Smith and his wife Morgan, Zach Smith and his fiancée Stacy Nowlin, and Jennifer (Smith) Apel; and five great-grandchildren, Benjamin Whitaker-Smith, Charlie Smith, Judah Smith, Dalton Apel and Gavin Apel. She was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Smith; one brother; and two sisters.
A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Great Bend Cemetery North. There will be no visitation has cremation has taken place.
