Elizabeth “Jane” Keil, 84, died June 10 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. She was born Jan. 22, 1928, at Elk Springs, Mo., the daughter of Druard and Ola Mable (Meador) Parish. She married Melvin Keil on May 5, 1951, at Great Bend. A Great Bend resident since 1936, coming from Elk Springs, Mo., she was an operator for Southwestern Bell.
Mrs. Keil was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 180 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3111 Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary, Telephone Pioneers of America, and Communication Workers of America Union.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Allen Richard Keil and his wife Rebecca, DVM, and John Edward Keil and his wife Bonnie, all of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Keil-LeRoy and her husband Danny LeRoy of Great Bend, and Judy Kay Cooley and her husband Dean of Wichita; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Haislip Brewington, Mary Ruth Smith and Bobbie Ann Johnson.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend with Pastor Adam Wutka officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, at Bryant Funeral Home.
