Ella Mae McCandless 1930-2015

ST. JOHN — Ella Mae McCandless, age 84, passed away March 4, 2015 at Leisure Homestead, St. John.
She was born on May 1, 1930 at Great Bend, the daughter of Fred and Julia (Schminke) Schrepel.  She was a graduate of Great Bend High School and moved to St. John in 1955, eventually working at the First National Bank for 25 years.  
On Oct. 8, 1950 she married Lloyd L. McCandless at Fort Smith, Ark.. He survives.  
Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Ann McCandless, Phoenix, Ariz.; Debra Kay McCandless, Leawood; two grandchildren, Jared Glimcher, Denver, Colo.; and Zachary Glimcher, New Orleans; numerous nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Schrepel; three sisters, Dora Hayes, Florence Gaunt and Lola Pope.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 9 at Eden Valley Church of the Brethren, St. John with Pastor Tom Harrison presiding.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John.
 Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
