LACROSSE — Emoreta P. “Emma” Funk, 86, died Feb. 9, 2016, at Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse.
Born Dec. 28, 1929, in Cassville, Mo., she was the daughter of Andrew and Loral (Stockton) Carterman. She was a graduate of Cassville High School in Cassville, Mo., and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Bolivia College in Springfield, Mo. On Feb. 7, 1950, she married Herbert W. Funk at Milberger. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1998. A long time resident of Barton County and Rush County, moving to Kansas in 1949 from Missouri, she was a teacher and dental assistant before her retirement.
Mrs. Funk was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis.
Survivors include, one daughter-in-law, Donna Funk of rural Otis; three grandchildren, Don Sommers (Sandra), Phillip Funk (Jessica), and Jamie Buehler (Heath); six great-grandchildren, Danielle Herl, Amelia Sommers, Gregory Sommers, Christian Funk, Zoey Funk, and Colt Buehler; one great-great-grandson, Weston Herl; one brother, Roy Carterman, Midwest City, Okla.; and one sister, Imogene Kamees of Auburn, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James L. Funk; an infant child; two brothers, Jacob Carterman, and Joseph Carterman; and one sister, Irene Carterman.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis with Pastor Bruce Adamson officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Township Cemetery in Galatia. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Janousek Funeral Home in La Crosse with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Church visitation will be held from 9 to 9:50 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis.
