IOLA — Ernest Paul Blazek, 67, Iola, formerly of Dodge City, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Fort Scott Mercy Health Center. Born Oct. 30, 1948, in Great Bend, he was the son of Ernest Henry and Evelyn Wood Blazek. On May 3, 1968, he married Carol Jeannie Kennedy. She died on Oct. 20, 2014. He was employed as a maintenance manager for the Fort Dodge Soldiers Home.
Paul was an Army Veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include two sons, Lant and Tracy Blazek; a daughter, Teresa Blazek; three sisters, Ruth Steffens, Patricia Griffith and Sheryl Degenhardt; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol; and his parents.
Per Paul’s wishes, cremation has taken place. He will be inurned at Fort Dodge at a later date during a private family gathering. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.iolafuneral.com.
