OLMITZ — Ervin C. Schneider, 92, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Country Place Senior Living, in Hoisington. He was born April 1, 1928, in Great Bend, the son of Erwin A. and Mary (Schugart) Schneider. He married Monica Moeder on November 25, 1952, at Odin, Kan. She preceded him in death on Aug. 8, 2014.
Ervin was a lifetime resident of Barton County, and was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he earned two service stars. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW. Ervin enjoyed farming, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include four sons, Tom (Pam) Schneider, Chris (Michelle) Schneider, all of Olmitz, Dave (Norma) Schneider, and Jim Schneider, all of Great Bend; daughter Sandra (Mike) Urban of Lawrence; brother, Marvin of Rush Center; sister, Kathleen Bittner of Hays; 15 grandchildren, Brandon (Julie) Urban, Aaron (Laura) Urban, Brett (Devan) Urban, Stacey (Clinton) Wattier, Sarah (Garret) Carver, Beth Schneider, Denise (Nathan) Zink, Jeff (Sarah) Schneider, Joel (Krisa) Schneider, Jennifer Schneider, Krista Schneider, Garret Schneider, Gentry Schneider, Evan Schneider, Keaton Schneider; and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, Jack (Eugene), sisters, Bernadine “Bernie” Linenberger and Beatrice “Bea-Sis” Marie Gorrell.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, celebrated by Father Anselm Eke, MSP.
