OTIS — Fern I. Tuzicka, 89, died Nov. 2, at Wheatlands Health Care Center in Kingman. Born Aug. 8, 1925, in Russell County, she was the daughter of Henry H. and Katy (Bender) Berschauer. On April 27, 1942, she married Albert E. Tuzicka in Russell. He died on April 4, 1998. A resident of Hoisington since 1999, coming from Otis, she was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed quilting and playing the piano.
Mrs. Tuzicka was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Otis, where she was active in the church choir and women’s activities.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Moore of Hoisington, and Sharon Wilson and husband Lynn of Goddard; six grandchildren, Nathan Wilson, Troy Wilson, Jeff Moore, Stacy Moore, Robin Barrett, Steffaney Kerschen; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Art Berschauer; three sisters, Lorraine Cross, Doris Steinert, Marian Schultz; and by a son-in-law, Leonard Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis with the Rev. Bruce Adamson officiating. Burial will be at the Otis Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Wheatlands Care Center or Rivercross Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
