Frances Elizabeth “Tee” Simpson, 98, died March 22 at Cherry Village Nursing Home. Born Sept. 23, 1916 at St. Clair County, Mo., she was the daughter of Fred and Mayme (Malicoat) Jackson.
She married Melvin Clay Simpson March 13, 1934 at Osceola, Mo., and at the time of his death had been married 77 years. He died July 31, 2011.
A Great Bend resident since 1941 coming from Colorado, she was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God, Great Bend. She worked with her husband in their business, Murray and Simpson Casing Crews answering the phone. She loved travelling, making many trips in their motor home with church friends. She particularly liked family reunions and never missed one.
Survivors include one son, Kenny W. Simpson of Fayetteville, Ark.; three daughters: Ruby Feil of Great Bend, Doris Case of Sacramento, Calif., and Barbara Espinosa of Great Bend; and 18 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Wayne Simpson, Jr.; one daughter, Nelta Irene Jones; two sisters, Hazel Sanders and Edith Hawkins; two brothers, Floyd Jackson and Fred Jackson, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Kathy Marshall and Randy Marshall.
Funeral service will be Thursday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Bryant Funeral Home with officiant Pastor Dwight Dozier. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 25 at Bryant Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established for First Assembly of God or St. Rose Health Center Endowment Fund for Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
