Frances Rose Blazek 1917 - 2019

OVERLAND PARK — Frances Rose Blazek, 101, of Overland Park, Kan. died on Sunday April 14, 2019. 

She was a resident of Brookdale Glenwood Village in Overland Park where she resided for the past four years. Frances was born Dec. 13, 1917, to Frank and Philomena Steiner. She had four brothers, Bob, Gus, Frank and Albert (Fritz) and three sisters, Tibby Menzer, Ella Hickey, and Marie Shuler. She married John Blazek on Feb. 26, 1946, and celebrated until his death, Jan. 23, 1989. They lived in Claflin, Kan. and had two sons, Don and Larry.

Following John’s death, she moved to Lenexa, Kan. to Sunrise Assisted Living. Later she moved to Brookdale in Overland Park. Frances enjoyed many hobbies, gardening, canning, volunteer work at her church, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by sons Don (Debbie), Larry (Lisa); three grandsons, Brian (Sarah), Brent, and Devin; two great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered with a rosary and visitation Monday, April 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, Kan. Funeral will be held  on Tuesday, April 23, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and funeral Mass at 1 p.m.. Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church in Claflin, Kan. or Claflin Fire and Ambulance.
