ENID, Okla. — Frank A. Meyer, 85, passed away on June 1 at St. Marys Hospital in Enid, Okla. Born June 21, 1926, in Great Bend, he was the son of August and Geraldine Cheney Meyer. He was a 1944 graduate of Great Bend High School. On June 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Barbara Brown in Great Bend. He was employed in the oil field supply business and retired in 1993 as an oil field engineer. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Meyer was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II on the USS Colorado. He was a member of The St. Francis Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Barbara; two daughters, Kimberle Beckett and her husband Richard of Lawton, Okla., and Susie Cunningham and her husband Bill of Enid, Okla.; a son, Steve of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Ruble of Great Bend.
A memorial Mass with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Rajesh Mankena as celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors or The Paralyzed Veterans Association with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.
