Fredrick F. (Buck) Owens 1930 - 2015

LARNED — Fredrick F. (Buck) Owens, 86, passed away July 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by family. Born Jan. 4, 1930, in Woodward County, Okla., he was the son of Fred Oliver and Velda Hawkins Owens. On Dec. 12, 1961, he married Annabelle McKennan in Woodward, Okla. She passed away on Dec. 23, 2010. A longtime area resident, he was a custodian at Larned High School. He loved to fish.
Mr. Owens was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Larned.
Survivors include a son, Terry Kraft of Larned; four daughters, Sherlin Moore and Anna Binns (Daniel), both of Larned, Mary Ann Hammans (Joy A.) of Woodward, Okla., and Karen Bronson (Tony) of Great Bend; a brother, Frank Owens (Treva) of Woodward, Okla.; a son-in-law, Rick Evans; one sister, Daisy High of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Pearl Evans; four brothers, Wilbert, Jack, Bill and Marland; and two sisters, Lottie and Glynna.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 29, at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Michael Pfortmiller presiding. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Larned Veterans of Foreign Wars or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.
