HOISINGTON — Fredrick Julius “Fred” Bitter, 61, died June 30 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born March 20, 1953 at Hoisington, the son of Harry and Irene (Deutsch) Bitter.
Mr. Bitter was a lifetime Hoisington resident. Fred worked for National Carrier, Superior Essex Corp., Raytheon Company, Amerine Utilities, and most recently in the oilfield.  He was most proud of his seven years in the Marshall Islands, while employed by Raytheon.
Fred was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was a dedicated and committed father to Zachary, as well as a loving caretaker to his mother, father, and uncle.
He is survived by his parents: Harry and Irene Bitter, Hoisington; one son: Zachary Bitter of Hoisington; two brothers: Ken Bitter and wife Cindy of Powell, Ohio; Greg Bitter and wife Heather of Hoisington; many aunts and uncles and several nephews and nieces
The funeral service is at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Hoisington with the Rev. Mark Lovett officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, from noon until 8 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. The prayer service is Wednesday at 7 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
Private family inurnment is at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Susank.  Memorials are suggested to Zachary Bitter Education Fund or Concordia Lutheran Church, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net.
