Gary J. Christiansen, 63, died Sept. 3 at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita. Born Oct. 1, 1947 in Vallejo, Calif., he was the son of Gerald and Nadine (Amerine) Christiansen. On Dec. 1, 1992 he married Judy L. Green in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he was a self-employed carpet layer.

Mr. Christiansen served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Cheyenne Bottoms Sportsman Club in Great Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Judy L. Christiansen, of the home; two sons, Shawn Christiansen and Nick Christiansen and wife Candis, both of Great Bend; a sister, Kathy Hansen and husband Mike of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Christopher Christiansen, Gage Christiansen, and Desteny English; two nephews, Todd Edmundson and wife Angie, and Sage Edmundson; and a niece. Jamie Hansen.

Memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Gary Christiansen Funeral Expense Fund, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net
